The loss and degradation of natural resources and multiple forms of life is so massive and accelerated that it has become a severe threat to the survival of all humanity.

The planetary-scale imbalances are especially apparent with climate change, the loss of living species at an unprecedented pace, the sharp reduction in the oceans’ ability to support life, massive water pollution, rapid degradation of agricultural soils, and the disappearance of forest.
